Carl E. Eckroth, 91, of Rosewood Nursing Home, formerly of Deer Lake, was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday with his daughter, Jackie, by his side at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.Born in Drehersville, Aug. 13, 1924, he was a son of the late Bertha M. Schaeffer and Earl M. Eckroth.He was the widower of Dorothy Sue Potts Eckroth. He was a member of Lighthouse Church, Orwigsburg, and Giddions, Pottsville Chapter.He served in the Air Force as a corporal in WWII. He earned an American Service Medal and a WWII Victory Medal.He was the owner and operator of the former Eckroth's Appliance Store in Schuylkill Haven from 1958 until 1980. He retired in 1990.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and his granddaughter, Kelly.Surviving are his two daughters, Sue Ann Kraft and her husband, Ned, and Jacqueline Cooper; granddaughter, Susan, wife of Max Miller; grandson, Jeffery, husband of Katie Kraft; granddaughter, Jennifer Cooper; grandson, Rocky Cooper and his fiancee, Samantha Ebert; sister, Joan, wife of Allen L. Bainbridge; former son-in-law, R. Wayne Cooper III. Services are private at the convenience of the family and entrusted to Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Orwigsburg.
