Charles R.  Smith   Jr., 88, of Orwigsburg, died Friday, March 24th, at Lehigh Valley Health Network Schuylkill-East, Pottsville.

Charles was born in South Manheim Township, PA on October 20, 1928, a son of the late Estella (Fryer) Smith and Charles R.  Smith, Sr.

He was the widower of Fay C. (Fidler) Smith. 

He was a member of Zion's Red Church, Orwigsburg, and worked as a Supervisor at the former Penn Steel Foundry in Hamburg, PA for 44 Years. He retired in 1992.  Charles is survived by his daughter, Judy A. Hartman, widow of Ward of Pottsville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tracey A. Davis-Witmyer, wife of Mark. Joy Warfsman, wife of Robert. Justin Smith, Husband of Shannon. Gregory Smith,  Companion of Kenny Fetherolf. Great grandchildren Emily, Madison, Ryan, Isabelle & Ella. Charles is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son George W. Smith and an infant daughter Fay Lucile, two brothers, Raymond & John Smith and a sister Nora Schadler.

A Religious Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 29th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, with Rev. Wanda Schwandt officiating. Friends are invited to call from 9:30 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Zion's Red Church Cemetery Orwigsburg.
