John P. Walborn

March 15, 1933 ~ January 1, 2018 (age 84) 84 Years Old

John Peter Walborn, age 84,passed away January 1, 2018 at his Orwigsburg home.  Born in Drehersville, Pa.  John was the son of the late Mary M. Leymeister and Clarence P. Walborn.  He was the widower of Linda M. (Killian) Walborn. John graduated from Orwigsburg High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1951 to 1955. During that period he served mainly in Germany.  After the service he enrolled in Williamsport Technology Institute trade school in electronics.  Upon graduation, he accepted a position with Raytheon as a field engineer. He held a high security position with Raytheon and worked on the development of computers, satellites and missiles. He was assigned to positions all over the U.S. and outside the country like Alaska and the Aleutian Islands.  He served several assignments in the Aleutian Islands, and he and Linda would take  breaks in Hawaii. There they fell in love with Hawaii and John would visit it several times a year for the rest of his life.

John had a love for stock cars early in life and became an avid NASCAR fan.  His next love was golf andhe and Linda were both avid golfers who spent all their free time golfing at the many locations they lived.

John is survived by a sister Ruth Haeseler of Geneva Ohio; nieces Johanna Zmuida, Orwigsburg; Diane Mekelberg, New Jersey; Jane Leib, Sugarloaf; and Elizabeth Driscoll,Washington DC. He is survived by his in-laws Cindy and Bob Felty and their twins Avery and Brienne who John and Linda truly loved.  He had deceased Sisters Erla Seltzer, Jean Hurst, Marie Repp and nephew Robert Seltzer Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Orwigsburg PA, Reginal Leibensperger will officiate.  Family and friends are invited to attend.
