Karen M. (Androkitis) Guers

Karen Marie Guers, 71, of Orwigsburg, passed away, Tuesday, September 26th, at her residence surrounded by family.
Karen was born in Lancaster, PA on November 25, 1945, a daughter of the late Doris Elizabeth (Skidmore) Androkitis and John Louis Androkitis.
She was the wife of Burd J. Guers. They were married on April 24, 1965.
She was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School class of 1963.
She earned her nursing degree from the Reading School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at the former Pottsville Hospital for over 39 years before retirement.
She was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg until her illness.
In addition to her husband, Burd, of 52 years, Karen is survived by her daughter, Sandy, wife of James Englert and her son, Steven Burd Guers husband of Michelle.
Her sister, Debra A., wife of Dennis Marbarger, and her brother, Carl L. Androkitis, husband of Debbie. Seven grandchildren: Amanda Brenize, wife of Tim, Ethan, Brianna, Taylor & Nicholas Englert and Ryan & Cassidy Guers. Two great grandchildren: Logan & Lily Brenize. Karen was looking forward to her third great grandchild, Layla. She is also survived by her best friend for over 63 years, Carol Schaeffer, nieces & nephews, and her loving dog, Ellie.
She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Zalonka, nephew Brian Marbarger, and grandson Mason Brenize.
A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM on Monday, October 2nd at Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg, PA with a religious service to follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steward Warner officiating.  
Karen lived her life always caring for others.  She was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She attended countless athletic competitions, concerts and special events to support them and her biggest decision was where to sit: on the Blue Mountain or Pottsville side.
Karen will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church 132 South Liberty Street Orwigsburg, PA 17961.
Interment will follow services at Barnesville Cemetery.
