Kenneth M. Wessner

Kenneth M. Wessner, 83, of Orwigsburg, passed away. Monday, July 24th, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, Reading.

Kenneth was born in Drehersville, PA on April 13, 1934, a son of the late Esther M. (Fegley) and Lester E. Wessner. He is survived by his brother George Wessner and wife Eleanor. 

He was the widower of Delores C. (Singley ) Wessner and was raised in the Protestant Faith. Kenneth was a Graduate of Cressona High School, Class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, Okinawa, Vietnam, and numerous stateside bases . He earned a Good Conduct w/Silver Clasp - Meritorious Unit Commendation, - Service Medal, Campaign Medal, Gallantry Cross, all Vietnam- Meritorious Service Medal - Army Commendation Medal - Bronze Star Medal - Legion of Merit w/ 2O/S Bars . He served in the US Army for over 22 years as a Cryptologist until 1978, retirenfd at the rank of Sgt Major. After his Career with the military Kenneth worked as a farmhand and gentleman farmer for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed wood working and spending time with his many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth is survived by Nieces Debra, wife of Michael Sterner, Robin, wife of David Penberth & Lisa, wife of David Eldridge. Nephews Edward Wessner, Hal Beck, husband of Jackie, Ned Beck, widower of Kathleen & John Beck, husband of Jeanne. Numerous Great & Great Great Nieces & Nephews and one Great Great Great Niece.

A Memorial gathering will take place from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday July 29 at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Orwigsburg. Interment Services will follow at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona, with Military Honors.The Family would appreciate contribution In lieu of flowers to Keystone Wounded Warriors PO Box 475 Blandon, PA 19510.
