Aaron M. "Jack" Strouse Jr., 71, of Middleport, passed away unexpectedly Friday with family members at his side.

Born in Orwigsburg, March 17, 1943, he was a son of the late Aaron M. Sr. and Kathryn M. Fryer Strouse.

He was the loving husband of Penny F. Shappell Strouse. They were married on Sept. 29, 1970.

A graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Class of 1961, he was the owner and operator of Strouse Remodeling & Custom Woodworking Co.

He was a member of the NRA and raised in the reformed faith.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Reber.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, Penny, Jack is survived by two daughters, Paula J., wife of Ellis Emery, and Deb L., wife of Jeff Davis; two sons, Tom A., husband of Missy Strouse, and Bill N. Strouse, companion of Jennifer Dierwechter; and he was guardian of Candi K., wife of George Montgomery, and John C. Reber. He was the fun and loving grandfather of Kevin and Kasey Strouse, Shawn and Jack Davis, Brock and Bryce Strouse and Aryana Montgomery. Jack is also survived by five sisters, Anna, widow of Daniel Shoener, Gladys, wife of Bill Ketner, Esther, widow of Joseph Kerwick, Wilhelmina, wife of Donald Kleckner, and Sandra, wife of Butch Shappell; nieces and nephews.

Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
