Barbara E. Berger, 99, formerly of  Orwigsburg, passed away peacefully on  Friday, July 10th, at her residence in Pottsville.

Barbara was born in Pottsville on February 27, 1927, a daughter of the late Charlotte (Bonowitz) and James Nelson Shaw.

She was the widow of Willis "Bill" Berger.

Barbara was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg.

She graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School in 1945 and went on to become a registered nurse in addition to being a homemaker.

Barbara was a member of a local card club and the Orwigsburg Lionettes. She volunteered at her church and also for the Red Cross at the blood banks. She very much enjoyed traveling with her husband Bill. and spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Ellen, husband of  Tom Bowen, of Orwigsburg and a son,Stephen Berger, of Tampa, FL.  four grandchildren James, Anne, William and Samantha and 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Mary Ann Sterner, wife of Gale; Peg Berger, widow of Jerry, Grace Shaw, widow of Bill.

She was predeceased by her brothers Frank William Shaw and James Nelson Shaw.
