Donald G. Shiffert, 86, of Lake Wynonah, passed away peacefully Monday at home in the company of his wife.

Born in Orwigsburg, Dec. 2, 1926, he was a son of the late Edward Berrie Shiffert and Naomi Pearl Shoener Shiffert.

He was the husband of Karen E. Matulewicz Shiffert, whom he married on March 23, 1977.

Donald was a truck driver for Middle Atlantic Millwork, New Jersey, for 33 years, retiring in 1962.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Auburn, International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 676 and the Fishing Committee for Lake Wynonah.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Karen, of 36 years, are three daughters, Donna Sawyer, Sandra Hain and Anne Marie Rutkowsky; a son, Rawn Shiffert; two sisters, Joan Brady, Leesport, and Joyce Benick, Orwigsburg; a brother, Edward Shiffert, Orwigsburg; grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A remembrance of Donald's life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg. A visitation with family members will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Steigerwalt's Church Cemetery, Orwigsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., 116 S. Liberty St., Orwigsburg, PA 17961 to help defray funeral expenses.
