Dorothy J. Gruver, 91, of 1000 Orwigsburg Manor Drive, Orwigsburg, formerly of Long Avenue, died Thursday at Orwigsburg Center-Genesis Healthcare.

She was the widow of Thomas F. Gruver.

Born in New Philadelphia, July 11, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary T. Pisko Jarosz.

She worked as a folder at the former Argo Knitting Mill, Orwigsburg, and retired at age 66.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Christ, Sophie Hess, Helen Butchko, Mary Moyer, Julia Sterner, Margaret Ney, Cecelia Pflueger, Francis Schuckers and Katie Kohut; and brothers, John, Joseph and Edward Yarish. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Carolyn C. Carvalho, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, with Monsignor Edward S. Zemanik officiating. Interment will be held in Salem Evangelical Cemetery, Orwigsburg. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901, in Dorothy's name.
