DR  WALTER  R.  BOHNENBLUST, 94, of Orwigsburg, PA, passed away, Saturday, May 2nd, peacefully, at Seton Manor Inc.

Born in Oak Hill, KS on February 20, 1921, a son of the late Sophia  Kathryn  (Blauer )  and Walter   Bohnenblust .

He was the husband of Ruth   (Monco ) Bohnenblust . They were married  on

April 7, 1947,

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church Pottsville, PA

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He is a graduate of Bellville High School, Bellville, KS, 1939. He attended Nebraska University 1939 to 1941, Kansas University BA 1943, MD 1945. He had an internship at  Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA 1945-1946.  Residency in Radiology, Reading Hospital, Reading, PA 1955-58.

He had a general medical practice in New Ringgold, PA, 1948-55,  served as Radiologist at Altoona Hospital, Altoona, PA  1958-59 and  Pottsville Hospital, Pottsville, PA 1960-88, Chief of Department.

He and Ruth had a summer home in Canada on Lake Charleston. He enjoyed fishing and scouting.   He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Professional organizations include American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Association, Schuylkill County Medical Society past president and secretary, American College of Radiology, Pennsylvania Radiological Society, Radiological Society of North America, Society of Nuclear Medicine, Greater New York Chapter Society of Nuclear Medicine.

Charitable organizations include American Cancer Society, Schuylkill County, and past president, Schuylkill County United Tuberculosis Health Society, Boy Scouts of America where he was a scout master and chairman of troop committee.

Social memberships include The former  Pottsville Club, Schuylkill Country Club, Masonic Lodge #138 F & AM. Lehigh Consistory 32nd degree.

In addition to his wife of 68 years,  Ruth, he is survived by

a daughter, Dr. Barbara  J. , wife of  Randolph  Augustine , of Bristol, RI;

two sons Dr. Stephen  E. , widower of  Sandy  Bohnenblust , of Mankato, MN; Dr. Walter  R. , husband of  Bonnie  Bohnenblust, Jr. , of Reading, PA.

Also survived by eight grandchildren Stephen Bohnenblust, Jr.; Amanda Bohnenblust, MS,

companion of Charles Bauer; Eric W. Bohnenblust, Phd., husband of Jacqueline Kramer,

Esq., daughter Charlotte; Samantha Bohnenblust; Zachary W. Augustine, Esq., husband of

Elise (Dufour), MSE; Evan Bohnenblust, MD; Carly Augustine, MArch; Alec Bohnenblust., nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by 7 Sisters

Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until 11 AM at

Trinity Episcopal Church, Pottsville.  Religious service at 11 AM. Entombment Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc.
