Fay C. Smith, 86, of Orwigsburg, died Tuesday at Rest Haven nursing home, Schuylkill Haven.

Born in South Manheim Township, Oct. 7, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Ellen M. Werner Fidler.

She was the wife of Charles R. Smith, whom she married March 22, 1947.

She worked as a machine operator at the former Zulick's Shoe Factory, Orwigsburg, for 21 years until retiring in 1972.

Fay was a member of Zion's Red Church, Orwigsburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, George W. Smith; a daughter, Fay Lucile; two brothers, Henry and Rudy Fidler; and five sisters, Mable Schwenk, Grace Correll, Fern Moyer, Vera Lengel and Eva Hughes.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 67 years, Charles, are a daughter, Judy A. Hartman, Pottsville, widow of Ward Hartman, Pottsville; granddaughters, Tracey A., wife of Mark Davis Witmyer, Reading, and Joy, wife of Robert Warfsman, Nazareth; grandsons, Justin Smith, husband of Shannon, Orwigsburg, and Gregory M. Smith; a brother, Lewis W. Fidler, Schuylkill Haven, widower of Phyllis Fidler; a sister, Betty, wife of Paul Correll, Port Clinton; five great-grandchildren, Isabell, Ella, Emily, Madison and Ryan; nieces and nephews.

Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, with the Rev. Wanda Schwandt officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Zion's Red Church Cemetery, Orwigsburg.
