Irene E. Mantz, 91, of Providence Place, Pottsville, formerly of Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold, passed away Sunday, September 24th, at her residence.

Irene was born in Tamaqua, PA on September 21, 1926, a daughter of the late Sadie (Brobst) and William Bachert.

She was the widow of Robert M. Mantz. He passed away April 23, 2013.

Irene graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1943 and was a Homemaker.

She was a past 4-H leader and enjoyed sewing, gardening & canning. During WWII she and her sister Florence worked at the Armstrong Factory in Lancaster making camouflage to support the war effort. She also helped with the Rationing Coupons. Irene was a member of Christ Church, Mc Keansburg. She was the former church secretary and was in the Women's Guild. She also helped greatly with charity work. As an avid sewer Irene made many items for the church including altar cloths & draperies. She was also a member of the New Ringgold Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Dianne I. Sensenig, wife of John P., of Wernersville. Son, Allen R. Mantz, husband of Susan M., of New Ringgold.

Granddaughter Dr. Lindsey S. Mantz and her fiancé Daniel Litwa.

Her sister, Pearl, widow of Dave Whetstone and brother, Donald, husband of Chris Bachert.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Marlin Bachert & Florence Kistler.

A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30th at Christ Church Mc Keansburg with Rev. Sunny L. Stock officiating.

Friends are invited to call from 9:00 until time of service in the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Mckeansburg 6 South Race Street New Ringgold, PA 17960.

Interment will follow in the Christ Union Cemetery Mc Keansburg
