Jeanette J. Aulenbach, 93, a lifelong resident of Orwigsburg, passed away Friday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Orwigsburg, June 2, 1920, she was the last surviving child of Herbert and Sallie Brown Freed, Orwigsburg.

A graduate of Orwigsburg High School, early in her adult life, Jeanette worked as a seamstress at the Sylray in Orwigsburg before becoming a full-time homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Her hobbies included needlework, cooking and baking. She was also an avid reader, having read at least two books a week for most of her adult life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Aulenbach; and grandson, Guy Husted.

She is survived by her son, Leonard; daughter, Lisa; grandson, Kyle; and two great-granddaughters, none of whom live in the area. Local survivors include two nephews and a niece.

All arrangements are private for the immediate family. Interment will be in Zion's Red Church Cemetery, Orwigsburg. Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Orwigsburg Free Public Library; the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped of the Free Library of Philadelphia, 919 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19107; or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orwigsburg.
