Martha E. Sterner, 68, of Straub Avenue, Orwigsburg, entered into God's care Sunday at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.

Born in Pottsville, Nov. 25, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Orlo E. and Tillie M. Straub Achenbach. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Albert Parsons.

She was the widow of Charles J. Sterner.

She was employed as a legislative aide at the office of Rep. Jerry Knowles, Orwigsburg. Prior to working for Rep. Knowles, she had worked for Rep. David Argall and also for Rep. Robert Allen in the Orwigsburg Borough Building.

A 1962 graduate of Pottsville High School, in her early years she worked for Bell Telephone and also for Van Heusen.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orwigsburg, and Order of the Eastern Star Orwigsburg Chapter.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Jr.

Surviving are two daughters, Christa J. Miller, Orwigsburg, and Heidi L., wife of Paul Glenn III, Auburn; two brothers, John A. Achenbach, husband of Mary, New Tripoli, and Orlo W. Achenbach, widower of Doris, Felton; sister, Diane F., wife of John Kasko, Drexel Hill; grandchildren, Taylor C. and Emily E. Beach, Connor J., Donavan R., and Ethan A. Spatz, Hannah L. and Phoebe L. Glenn.

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg. Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph J. Scholtes Jr. officiating. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, is honored to be serving the family.
