Mildred M. "Millie" "Chickie" Guers, 89, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Summer Valley Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday at the Orwigsburg Center Genesis HealthCare.

Born in West Brunswick Township, Feb. 20, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Mable F. Dunkel Mengle.

A graduate of Auburn High School, she was a retired sewing machine operator in the garment industry.

Millie was a member of Zion's Red Church, Orwigsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Guers; and a brother, Melvin M. Mengle.

Surviving are two sons, John D. Guers, husband of Gaylene, and Ronald C. Guers, husband of Patricia, both of Orwigsburg; three granddaughters, Stacey M., husband of Jerry Goessel, Orwigsburg, Susan L. Guers, Fairbanks, Ala., and Brianne Guers, Hermitage, Tenn.; two grandsons, Joshua J. Guers, husband of Alyssa, Sellersville, and Zachary M. Guers, Middleport; and a great-granddaughter, Nora M. Goessel.

The family is looking forward to the birth of Mildred's second great-grandchild at the end of January.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to , 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
