Nancy J. Kimmel, 79, of Auburn, passed away Monday evening at Rest Haven nursing home, Schuylkill Haven.

Born Nov. 20, 1935, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late James Elmer and Mary Selina Holloway Smith.

She graduated from Pottsville High School in 1953. After high school, she worked as a secretary for Brighter Furniture, Pottsville. She was also co-owner, with her husband, of Pioneer Evergreen Farms, Auburn, for many years.

Nancy was a member of Faith Reformed United Church of Christ, Landingville, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school, Bible school and singing in the church choir and was president of the Ladies Aid for many years. Nancy was also a life member of Orwigsburg Chapter No. 424 Order of the Eastern Star and served two terms as Worthy Matron.

Nancy was a loving, kind hearted, compassionate person who loved everyone. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all of those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. Nancy was truly a blessing to everyone as she was devoted to her faith and love in Christ.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Kimmel Sr., in 2007.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lou Schrader and her husband, Gary, Germania; a son, Glenn "Butch" Kimmel Jr. and his wife, Janet, Auburn; grandchildren, Shawn Schrader and his wife, Teri, Buckeye, Ariz., Jamie Kimmel Ott and her husband, Matt, Mohrsville, Jessica Kimmel Bambrick and her husband, Thomas Jr., Auburn; great-granddaughter, Michelle Schrader; and sisters, Belle, wife of George Malick, Pine Grove, Carolyn, wife of Charles "Skip" Sterner, Summerville, S.C., and Ellen, wife of Thomas Dougherty, Glen Rock.

Private services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Faith Reformed UCC, 8 Church St., Landingville, PA 17972. Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, is honored to have been entrusted with arrangements.
