ROBERT  L.  (BOB ) RUNKLE , 90, Pottsville, formerly of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, August 24th, peacefully, at Seton Manor Inc.

Born in Auburn, Pa. on January 21, 1926, a son of the late Bertha  (Emerich )  and Clarence  Runkle .

He was the husband of Helen M. (Lukens) Runkle. They married on December 9th, 1969.

He was an Auburn High School Graduate, Class of 1944 and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Summer Hill

Bob  served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class in WW II, on the USS Essex CV-9 Ship.

He was employed as a Supervisor at A.S.H. Pump Company, out of Hamburg, PA.

Bob was a member of the Auburn VFW. He was also very involved with raising Beagles and was a member of Stein's Hollow Beagle Club, USS Essex Association and a member of the US Navy Memorial.

In addition to his loving wife Helen, of 46 years, Bob is  also survived by

two sons Robert  L. , husband of  Lorna  Runkle , of New Jersey; Keith , husband of  Catherine  Runkle , of Lenhartsville, PA;

three step daughters, Elizabeth , wife of  Terence  Connors , of Orwigsburg, PA; Beverly , wife of  Brian  Finney , of Pottsville, PA; Christine  Haslam , of Orwigsburg, PA; Grandchildren Ian husband of Hilarie Runkle, Kimberly wife of John Osborne,  Joseph & Patrick Runkle. Brittany wife of Michael Russo. Great Grandchildren Mackayla & Alexandra.

His sister, Dawn  Weston and brother, Dale  Runkle . Also surviving are numerous nieces & nephews.

Bob was predeceased by a grandson Jared Runkle  & 3 sisters, Ruth, June and Ina, and his brother Merritt

Religious Service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday August 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Summer Hill Road, Auburn, with Kathleen Ash-Flashner officiating.

Friends are invited to call  Saturday Morning from 9:30 until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1185, Summer Hill Road, Auburn, PA 17922.

Interment with Military Honors will follow, at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc. Schuylkill Haven, PA.
