Russel R. Boyer, 84, of University Drive, Schuylkill Haven, entered into God's care Saturday at Rest Haven Nursing Home, North Manheim Township.

Born in Auburn, Aug. 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Boger Boyer and the widower of Lillie P. Adams Boyer.

Russ was a steward at Deer Lake Fire Company, Deer Lake, prior to his retirement. He had also worked for the former truck painter Bertolini, Leesport.

He was a lifetime member of St. John's Church, Auburn, a member of Deer Lake Fire Company, and a lifetime member of the Rainbow Fire Company and Schuylkill Haven American Legion.

Russel served in the Air Force as a A/1C in the Korean War era and received the National Defense Service Medal. He also served in the Air Force Reserve as a A/1C following his discharge from active duty.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Warren and Guy Boyer.

Surviving are a daughter, Gail A., wife of John "Jack" E. Blasko, Tamaqua; a granddaughter, Brandy L. Blasko, Philadelphia; a grandson, John M. Blasko, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Doris, wife of Earl Epting, Auburn; and a companion, Mary Knott, Schuylkill Haven.

At Russel's request there will be no visitation and a private service will be held for family members.
