Charles Edward Felty, 83 years old, of Blythe Township, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born on August, 16th, 1937, Charles was the son of the late Warren Felty and Anna (Stripe) Felty Nye of Schuylkill Haven, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Warren (Tex) Felty, and David Nye.
Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Mae (Guers) Felty, their four children, thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren: Charles Jr., wife Roberta, and children, Robert and Megan Felty; Carl, wife Jill, and their children and grandchildren, Dennis Felty, husband to Cathy and their children Dylan and Abigail; KrystanKuba, wife to Thomas and their daughters, Aubrey, Jessa and Cambria; Brooke Kerschner, wife to Zachary and their newborn son Jase; Collin Felty; Charlene (Felty) Hoffman, husband Rickey, and their children and grandchildren,James Hoffman husband to Dr. Janelle and their sons, Matthew, Andrew and Ethan; Jaclyn (Hoffman) Hink, wife to Eric, and their twins, Eli and Everly; Jordan Hoffman, husband to Samantha, and their daughters, Haven, Hope and a baby girl due in August; Chad, his companion Lyndsey Kunkel, and children, Connor, Cooper, Cole and Callie Felty, and Owen and Olivia. Charles is also survived by a brother, William Nye, nieces, and nephews.
Charles was a graduate of Cressona High School where he served as the president of the FFA.  He worked in multiple agricultural professions like milking cows, processing turkeys, raising pigs, and picking apples.  He also drove for UPS before starting his school bus business. He belonged to many different organizations like the Little Schuylkill Lions Club, the Blue Mountain Young Farmers, and served as Master of the Lewistown Valley Grange. Charles was a veteran serving 26 years in the Army National Guard, and was a proud member of Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley and the New England Fire Company.
Together with his wife and family, Charles tended to his farm located at the end of Tumbling Run Road that raised various animals and crops over the years.  He raised heifer replacements, pigs, apples, corn, etc., however, his most prized accomplishment was being fondly known as a bus driver to many students. From the humble beginnings Felty Transportation has been providing school bus services to local school districts like St. Clair and Tamaqua for over 50 years. 
As the patriarch of the family, Charles’s passion for farming is carried on through his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His transportation legacy will continue with the help of his family and dedicated employees. Charles lived a full life and will be remembered as a comical yet hard working husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, employer, and bus driver. He will be deeply missed by all.

A funeral service will be held at Zion Church of  Lewistown Valley on Saturday May 15 at 1 PM.   Visitation in the church from  11 to 1.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
