Charles Harvey Bailey, 61, of Tamaqua, passed away peacefully Saturday July 12th at his home on South Railroad Street.
Charlie was born November 12, 1963 to the late Lloyd Charles & Reta Mae (Smith) Bailey. He was the husband of Laura Mae Miller, who he married on September 11, 1982.
He was a member of Christ Church, McKeansburg, and a life member of the Community Fire Company of New Ringgold. He was a lifelong resident of McKeansburg and Tamaqua. He was a dedicated Odd Fellow, having been a member for over 40 years. He was the charter Noble Grand of Harmony Lodge No. 86 of Tamaqua, and served the state as Grand Master from 1996 – 1997 and Grand Secretary. He served as Secretary of the Odd Fellows Cemetery of Tamaqua for over 30 years.
He enjoyed playing pinochle, going to polkas and his nights at the “hosey”. He was strong willed and resilient. He loved going to the beach with his family, and entertaining everyone on the Sunday afternoon open houses. His last week was filled with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, John L. Bailey.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Laura, two children, Justin C. Bailey, husband of Kate, of Tamaqua, and Ashley L. Pliska, wife of Stephen, of West Penn. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kenneth & Jackson Bailey and Bailey, Evan, Isaac and Thea Pliska. He is survived by his brother, Bruce L., husband of Diane, of Friedensburg. He also leaves his pets, Maggie and Martha.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in his name can be sent to the upkeep of the Drehersville Evangelical Cemetery.

A Celebration of life for Charlie will be on August 16th, 2025 at Trinity UCC, 22 Lafayette Street, Tamaqua, in Founders Hall (down at the basement of the church). It will start at 1PM, IOOF Service will be at 2:30 and then the Religious Service will begin at 2:45 PM. Dress casual, as how Charlie would have wanted it.
