Edith E. Kriner, 97, of Orwigsburg passed away Sunday, March 13th, at her residence.
Edith was born in Port Carbon on May 5, 1924, a daughter of the late Edith E. (Bracey) and Wayne W. Emerich. She was the wife of the late Edgar L. Kriner, they were married on September 7th, 1943, celebrating 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orwigsburg, having been very active in the church and the church choir for many years. She was a graduate of Orwigsburg High School, class of 1942. Edith was a modest woman and devout Christian whose life’s passion and work was her family. She was dedicated to building a loving home and nurturing each generation as a Wife, Mother and Nanny.
Edith is survived by three daughters, Janet wife of Philip Smith, of Orwigsburg, Kathie, widow of James Frantz, of Orwigsburg, Cheryl, wife of Michael Zimmerman, of Cressona, and a son, Philip Kriner, husband of Beverly, of Orwigsburg.
She is also survived by grandchildren David Kriner, Melodie Wildermuth, Janna Pelletier, wife of Robert, Thomas Smith, husband of Monica, Eric Zimmerman, and Connor Zimmerman. Step grandchildren Catherine, Madeline & Benjamin Eiche; great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Allison Wildermuth, Cara and Jayce Pelletier, Leela and Riley Smith; great great granddaughter Chloe Wildermuth, and her furry friend Frosty.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by infant twin grandchildren and a grandson Cory Smith, as well as her son-in-law James Frantz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 19th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, with Rev. Michael Petresky officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Guests are asked to follow CDC guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Edith’s family would like to thank the staff of Advantage Home Health Hospice Services for the compassionate, loving care their mother received for over 2 years.
