Gloria Elizabeth Stein, 95, formerly of Orwigsburg, PA passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026 at Providence Place, Pottsville, PA.  She was a resident there since April 2023.
Gloria was born on December 12,1930 in Hecla, PA. She was the eldest daughter of the late Newton and Elizabeth (Boyer) Nester.  
Gloria was the widow of Robert N. Stein who passed away on November 28, 2008.  Also preceded by death of four sisters:  Sandra Nester, Linda Nester, Marlene Brensinger, and Joan Mantz. Gloria is survived by one sister, Carole Rehrig of Centerport, PA, and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Gloria and Bob lived in New Philadelphia until 1972 then moved to Orwigsburg. She worked as a Notary and an Administrative Assistant at the Robert N. Stein Insurance  business until they retired.
Gloria was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia and then in Schuylkill Haven.  She sang in the church choir and performed in the Ocean Grove Choir Festival in New Jersey every summer for years where 1,700 people from the East Coast gathered to perform.
As an avid volunteer, Gloria volunteered at the Bloodmobile, the Orwigsburg Library, and community clean-ups. She was involved in other activities over the years to include the Orwigsburg Women’s League (OWL), a “Rotary Ann” with the Southern Schuylkill Rotary Club, Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), and Curves circuit training. She could also be spotted walking four miles almost every day all around the neighborhood.
Gloria was such a delightful hostess and loved to entertain her family and friends during the holidays and anytime throughout the year. She always warmly welcomed people into her home and she was a wonderful baker, cook, and gardener.  
Throughout their married life, Gloria and Bob traveled internationally which she really enjoyed, with Iceland being her favorite country. During their retired years, they were “snowbirds” at Fort Myers Beach, FL in the winters which Gloria thoroughly enjoyed.  She loved collecting seashells and watching the sunsets from the beach.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home, Inc. at 116 South Liberty Street in Orwigsburg on Friday June  5th  at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brian Reading officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment service will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
