LeRoy O. Scheffler Jr.

LeRoy Oscar Scheffler, Jr., 74, of New Ringgold, passed away Tuesday, April 26th, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill.

LeRoy was born in Northampton, PA on August 19, 1947, a son of Anna (Wolfe) Filandino and the late LeRoy Oscar Scheffler, Sr., He was raised by Cosmo Filandino, Sr.

He was the husband of Claire Joan (Hilbert) Scheffler. They were married January 6th, 1968.

He graduated from Plymouth White Marsh High School in Plymouth Meeting and he served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War.

He taught electromechanical trades for the Schuylkill Technology Center, Frackville and the reading Vo-Tech School.

LeRoy was an avid golfer and tradesman. He built his own house along with other houses in the area. He enjoyed singing harmony barbershop music and was a director locally. He and his wife Claire enjoyed travelling and he especially enjoyed his trips to the Grand Canyon and Ireland.

In addition to his wife Claire of 54 years and his mother Anna, LeRoy is also survived by two sisters, Christina Filandino and Companion Wayne Keevers and Pamela, wife of  Robert Evans and a brother, Cosmo Filandino, husband of Audrey;  granddaughter Leigh Anne Scheffler and her friend Ryan Culbert; great grandson Nikola Lee Scheffler. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

LeRoy was predeceased by his daughter Annette Snisky and brothers Garry Scheffler and Joseph Filandino. A religious service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 5th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg with Msgr Rev. Edward Zemanik officiating.  The public is invited to call from 8 AM until the time of service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reading Pretzel City Chorus Association, 170 Tuckerton Road, Reading, Pennsylvania 19605
