Paul R Huebner Sr. , 103, of Orwigsburg, passed away Thursday, August 31st , at Geisinger-St. Lukes’ Hospital.
Paul was born in Langenburg, Germany on August 23, 1920, the son of the late Gertrude Elizabeth (Jacoby) and Richard Earnest Huebner.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
He served in the United States Army Air Corp, now the United States Air Force, during World War II as a B17 pilot and instructor.
He began his career at age 17 working in textiles for his father. He took classes at Drexel University in textile management and spent the next 50 years in textiles. He finished his career as a Vice President and General Manager at the former Gold Mills & Penn Dye Company in Pine Grove.
Paul is survived by a daughter, Diana Horton, wife of Terry, of Northville NY, five sons, Paul Huebner, Jr., husband of Donna, of Northville, NY, David Huebner, husband of Elaine M., of Liverpool, NY, Michael Huebner, husband of Elaine D., of Orwigsburg, PA, Kenneth Huebner and James Huebner, both of Orwigsburg, PA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Josephine B. (Ubowski) Huebner, daughter, Roberta Stramara, granddaughter Paula Huebner, as well as three sisters Gertrude New, Minnie Fryling, and Helen Council.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 6th, at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating. The public is invited to call from 9:15-10:15 in the church chapel. Committal Prayers, with Military Honors, will be at St. Ambrose Mausoleum
