Sharlene A. (Werts) Nemits

Sharlene Ann Nemits, 66 of Orwigsburg passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday July 23, 2018.  She was born to the late Alvin and Marjorie Werts and is survived by her husband Steve Nemits.  She was a good friend, great sister, terrific teacher and the best Mom and Nanny!

Sharlene taught at Marian High School, Blue Mountain High School, and Schuylkill Haven High School, from where she retired in 2014.  She was a devoted teacher who made an impact on so many of the students she encountered.  She cared deeply for her students and her co-workers alike.

She was a strong and courageous woman who always put her family first.  Nothing was more important to Sharlene than her family, to whom she devoted her life.  In the month prior to her death, Sharlene treated her family to a vacation at Disney World, a wish she dreamt to fulfill for years.  Sharlene enjoyed life! She loved going to the beach with her sister, playing the penny slots at the casinos, and made friends anywhere she went.

She was a dedicated and loving mother to her four children: three sons, Thomas Bonner Jr and wife Katie, Michael Bonner and wife Sipi Gupta, Christopher Nemits companion of Amelia Lewis, and a daughter, Stephanie Nemits companion of Jason Goodwyn.  She instilled in her children a sense of perseverance, a strong work ethic, and told them she loved them every day.  

She was very proud of her family and especially loved being ‘Nanny’ to her 4 grandchildren, Kailin, Quinn, Maddox and Mylah, and her grand-doggy Yoda.  She doted on them and spoiled them any chance she could get.  She will be missed dearly by them all. 

Sharlene is also survived by a sister, Marlene, wife of Jack Januzzi, a great aunt, Elinor Grimes, nieces and nephews.  A Celebration of Life Service for Sharlene will be held at 7:30 PM on Thursday, July 26th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg. Friends may gather from 5:30 PM until time of service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn: Tribute Program 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Shriners Hospitals for Children-Philadelphia, Attn: Office of Development, 3551 North Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19140. Interment will be Private in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
